Gathering and preservation of evidence is crucial to holding perpetrators of sexual violence accountable. In response to the high rate of sexual and gender based violence in the conflict stricken regions of Cameroon, CYJULERC has been building capacity of community-based organizations (CBOs), medical staff and lawyers to provide psychosocial, medical and legal support to victims. So far, we have trained 118 stakeholders and 103 cases have been assisted in 18 months. “Our challenge as a predominantly female jurists’ organization is to ensure all victims of sexual violence in conflict in Cameroon are given the necessary support and all perpetrators held accountable.” Justice Esther Ayuk, founder, CYJULERC.
